In October 2023 Jeff Paniati retired after serving 8 years as the Executive Director and CEO of ITE: A community of more than 18,0000 transportation professionals. He currently serves as an advisor to several private sector and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining ITE, Jeff had a 32-year career with the Federal Highway Administration where he held leadership positions in the areas of system management and operations, intelligent transportation systems and highway safety. He served as FHWA Executive Director from 2008–2015.
Jeff has received numerous honor awards, including the prestigious Presidential Rank Award of Distinguished Executive. He has been inducted into the University of Connecticut Academy of Distinguished Engineers, the ITS America Hall of Fame, and the ITS World Congress Hall of Fame.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Maryland. He is a registered professional engineer.
