Nicholas Ward, Ph.D. is an internationally recognized expert in traffic safety culture. He was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Transportation Pooled Fund Project “Traffic Safety Culture” (TPF-5(444)) that has more than 20 participating state traffic safety agencies. He also a partner in the current NCHRP 17-96 project “Traffic Safety Culture Research Roadmap” and of the former NCHRP 17-69 project “A Strategic Approach to Transforming Traffic Safety Culture to Reduce Deaths and Injuries”.  He was the lead author for the Safety Culture chapter in the “Toward Zero Deaths: A national strategy on highway safety” that was published by AASHTO.
