Stephen Heiny joined the Highway Safety Research Center in 2016. As a Research Associate, he supports a range of projects and programs related to road safety, focusing on pedestrian and bicycle safety and planning, Vision Zero, the Safe System Approach, and Safe Routes to School. Through technical assistance and research he is engaged in efforts to disseminate road safety best practices to practitioners, supporting Safe Routes to School and Vision Zero programs in North Carolina and across the U.S.
