Name
Workshop 1 - AcciMapping: A Systems Tool for an Enhanced Understanding of Pedestrian Safety
Room Name
Azalea
Description

Accimapping is a system-oriented technique designed to outline the multiple causes and chains of causal factors at different levels that lead to a specific crash. It has been used by the aviation industry, NTSB, and many researchers across the world to develop a better understanding of the complex systems that result in injuries and fatalities, and where interventions are needed. In this workshop, we will describe the accimapping technique and demonstrate its application in a study by the AAA Foundation and the University of North Carolina to better understand pedestrian safety risks on urban arterials.
